Da Lat Restaurant

Several restaurants on D Phan Dinh Phung dish up inexpensive Vietnamese, Chinese, Western and vegetarian cuisine, just down the street from Hardy Dalat.
V Cafe (1 B Bui Thi Xuan) This is a fine place to begin a culinary exploration of Dalat. The friendly proprietor Vy (with her American husband singing back-up) dishes up great home-style Vietnamese food, as well as respectable soups, salads, burgers, tacos and quesadillas with home-made flour tortillas. The roasted pork loin with mashed pota¬toes and gravy is divine. Top it all off with Vy's home-made lemon meringue - yum! V Cafe is also an excellent place to pick brains for travel tips.

Art Cafe (70 D Truong Cong Dinh) Owned by an artist whose work adorns the walls, this elegant, bamboo-lined little spot has intimate tables sport¬ing white tablecloths and wineglasses. The menu features mostly Vietnamese dishes with a few Western curveballs thrown in for good measure. Food, presentation, prices and service are excellent, and it h perfect for a relaxed dinner.
Quan Diem Tam ( 217D Phan Dinh Phung) Be sure to try this long-running Chinese-style soup shop serving up delicious yellow-noodle won ton soup (mi hoanh thanh).

Trong Dong (220 D Phan Dinh Phung) Another good place to sample superb Vietnamese food served on white tablecloths. House specialties include grilled shrimp paste on sugar cane, fish in a clay pot and minced beef wrapped in lalot leaves. Trong Dong is a bit outside flu centre, but it's well worth walking over to.

Long Hoa ( 6 D 3 Thang 2) Long in vogue with travelers, Long Hoa proves to be consistent. It does great sauteed dishes and hotpot. You might opt for the rear seating, away from the street noise.
Minh Uyen For something more local, head to Dalai - best budget hole-in-the-wall. Its com thap cam a mixture of rice, chicken, beef, pork, egg and vegies, is a guaranteed filler]

The Sofitel Dalat Palace has several dining options. For fine French dining.
Le Rabelais cannot be beat, hut bring a credit card or a wheel¬barrow full of dong. Downstairs, Larry's Bar serves respect¬able pub grub and the best pizza in town. Lastly, the bright-yellow Cafe de La Poste across from the post office, is a casual bistro with a pool table. Waitresses dressed like Provencal barmaids serve up good light meals and exquisite pastries and desserts

Vegetarian: there are vegetarian food stalls in the market area, northwest of Xuan Huong Dam. All serves up delicious 100% vegetarian food, some prepared to resemble and taste like traditional Vietnamese dishes.
An Lac: Another cheap veggie restaurant worth checking out in An Lac. There is an English menu here, and options range from noodle soups to rice plates to banh bao(steam rice flour dumplings stuffed with a savory vegetarian filling)
