Bao Quoc Pagoda Last renovated in 1957, Bao Quoc Pagoda (Pagoda Which Ser ies the Country) was founded in 1670 by Giac Phong, a Buddrust monk from Chin a. It was given its present name in 1824 by Emperor Minh Mang, who later ce lebra ted his 40th birthday here in 1830. A school for training monks was opened h ere in 1 ^40 and the orchid-lined courtyard behind the sanctuary is still a quiet p lace where students gather to study. The central altar in th e main sanctuary contains three identical Buddha statues, wh ich represent (from left to right) Di Lac, Thich Ca and A Di Da, behind which is a me morial room for deceased monks Around the main building are monks' tombs, including a three storey, red-and-grey stupa built for the pagoda's founder. Bao Quoc Pagoda is on Ham Long Hill in Phisong Du e District. To get there, head sou th from D Le Loi on D Dien Bien Phu and turn right immedia tely after crossing the railway tracks
