Sapa: Restaurants

Places to Eat

The Observatory Restaurant ( 87 1504) is a Sapa institution. Its set dinner course is refutable bargain at US$3.80 (the price has not changed since 1990!). It's also a great place to pick up takeaway picnic lunches before heading out on a walk. The Camillia Restaurant, near the market, is an expat favourite and boasts perhaps the most extensive menu in north-west Vietnam. There are a string of popular eateries worth checking out near the bottom of the main drag (south of the stairs leading down to the market). The Auherge Hotel is a good

breakfast spot, and also has a set vegetarian menu. The Chapa Restaurant is a true travellers' cafe with the usual banana pancakes

and spring rolls. If you peek in the front door, the place may appear full but there are more tables in the room upstairs and also on

the balcony. Others to consider nearby include the Queen Restaurant, Four Seasons Restaurant and Thanh Lich Restaurant- all these

are good. The Phansipang Restaurant is the place to relieve any sudden cravings for antelope. If you're looking for a place to enjoy a

coffee without the hill tribe women trying to sell you ethnic apparel, the terrace at the Pillions; Nani Guesthouse is a gem. For a more local cafe scene, you might check out the rooftop of the Vuon Xuan Cafe, on the road heading down to Cat Cat Village.
