CAODAI RELIGION & CU CHI TUNNELS TOUR - 1Day

Cao dai Religion:

Besides the traditional religious practices in Vietnam, there are other major religions such as Buddhism, Catholicism, Protestantism,

Islam, the Cao Dai sect and the Hoa Hao sect... At present, over 70 percent of the population of Vietnam

are either Buddhist or strongly influenced by Buddhist practices. About 10 percent of the population are considered to be catholic. The number of Protestants is estimated at a mere 400,000. Most of the Islamic followers in Vietnam are those of the Cham ethnic minority group living in the central part of the central coast.

The number of Islamic followers in Vietnam totals about 50,000. The Cao Dai Church in Tay Ninh is the central point nearby which are located settlements of Cao Dai followers in South Vietnam.

The number of followers of this sect is estimated at 2 million. More than 1 million Vietnamese are followers of the Hoa Hao sect. Most of them live in the western part of South Vietnam

Cao Daism is an mixture of Buddhism, Christianity, Taoism and Confucianism. In this religious, Buddha and the Christian God are believed to both exist as deities, but Cao Dai is the third, highest deity. First found by Ngo Van Chieu in 1923, by 1930 there were half a million followers and over 2 million now.

Cuchi Tunnels

The beginnings of the Cu Chi tunnels date back to Vietnam's struggle for independence from the French, but it was not until the American War that the tunnel network was widely expanded to cover a total distance of some 250 kilometres.

A small part of this network has been restored and opened to visitors to cast a fascinating light on the lives of the Cu Chi guerrillas and their hideouts.

Join Vietnam Royal Tourism for a visit to Cu Chi where we'll take you underground to experience a glimmer of the conditions in which these people lived and fought. If climbing through the tunnels holds no appeal, try sipping green tea and munching on some cassava - a guerrilla staple - in an underground. Many artefacts and recreations are also on display to give visitors an idea of the conditions, suffering and determination of the local people in their conflicts.

Tour Program :In the morning, we are drive forward Tay Ninh, to see the ornate temple of Cao Dai and attend the

fantastic mid-day service when the followers fill the hall wearing colored robes, a symbol of the curious combination of the Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism. After lunch, we drive back, with stop over Cu Chi Tunnels. The trip ends after arrival in Ho Chi Minh City. (Lunch includes )
