Riding the Vietnam Express Train(12 days / 11 nights)
Highlights: Hanoi - Hai Phong – Ha Long Bay – Hue – Danang – Hoi An – Nha Trang – Ho Chi Minh City – Mekong Delta
Day 1: Hanoi - Arrival
Arrive in Hanoi and transfer to hotel. The rest of the day is free to relax or to begin exploring the city. In the evening watch a performance of the renowned water puppet theatre whose origins date back over a thousand years.

Day 2: Hanoi - Sightseeing
A full day to explore Hanoi’s illustrious history. In the morning, visit the Ho Chi Minh Complex containing his mausoleum, former residence and the One Pillar Pagoda. Also visit the Temple of Literature. In the afternoon visit the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts, Hoan Kiem Lake and Ngoc Son Temple. A one-hour tour of Hanoi’s Old Quarter by cyclo is a relaxing way to end the day. The tour includes a stop at an ancient Vietnamese “long house”.

Day 3: Hanoi – Bac Ninh – Ha Long Bay
After breakfast drive to Bac Ninh, the cradle of traditional Vietnamese music and theatre. On arrival take a horse-drawn cart through country lanes to visit the Dinh Bang communal house and Do temple. Enjoy local folk songs before proceeding to Ha Long Bay for overnight

Day 4: Ha Long Bay - Boat Cruise - Hanoi – Hue by overnight train
Relax on a 5-hour boat cruise through magnificent Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO designated World Heritage site. Enjoy a seafood lunch on board. Return to Hanoi, stopping en route at Phu Lang ceramic village or Dong Giao woodcarving village. In the evening transfer to railway station for an overnight train to Hue. (S1 class recommended)

Day 5: Hue - Sightseeing
Arrive in Hue and transfer to hotel. The rest of the morning is free for rest or to begin exploring the city. In the afternoon, visit the Imperial Citadel and the elaborate tombs of Emperor Khai Dinh and Tu Duc.
OVERNIGHT IN HUE. [Breakfast]
Day 6: Hue - Danang - Hoi An 
Morning boat cruise on the romantic Perfume River. Visit the elegant Thien Mu Pagoda on the riverbank. Drive along the coast, through emerald-green paddy fields and over the spectacular Hai Van Mountain pass. En route, visit Danang’s Cham Museum with the world’s finest collection of Cham artwork. Upon arrival in the ancient port of Hoi An transfer to hotel. The rest of the day is free to explore the town.
OVERNIGHT IN HOI AN. [Breakfast]
Day 7: Hoi An - Sightseeing
Embark on a half-day walking tour of this quaint town visiting ancient merchants’ houses, a Hokkien temple, a 400-year-old Japanese Covered Bridge and the vibrant riverside market. Afternoon trip to a lantern workshop to learn the techniques involved and then create your own. Finish the day with a sunset boat trip on the Thu Bon River to Thanh Ha pottery village.

Day 8: Hoi An - Danang – Nha Trang (by day train)
In the morning, transfer to Danang railway station for the day trip to Nha Trang. Along the way, enjoy stunning views of mountains, rice fields and ocean. Arrive in Nha Trang in the evening. Transfer to hotel.
OVERNIGHT IN NHA TRANG. [Breakfast]
Day 9: Nha Trang - Boat Cruise – Ho Chi Minh City (by overnight train)
In the morning, enjoy Nha Trang’s turquoise waters and white sandy beaches with a boat cruise to offshore islands in Nha Trang Bay. In the afternoon, visit the Po Nagar Cham Towers, the Long Son Pagoda, Nha Trang Cathedral and the Oceanographic Institute. A visit to a local fish and food market is optional. In the evening, transfer to the railway station for the overnight train to Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 10: Ho Chi Minh City - Cu Chi Tunnels
Arrive in Ho Chi Minh City and transfer to hotel. The rest of the morning is free for rest or to begin exploring the city. In the afternoon drive to the remarkable Cu Chi tunnels, just outside Ho Chi Minh City. During the war “Viet Cong” guerillas built a labyrinth of narrow tunnels, using them to hide during bombing raids and stage surprise attacks. 
OVERNIGHT IN HO CHI MINH CITY. [Breakfast]
Day 11: Ho Chi Minh City - Ben Tre - Boat Cruise
Drive through the scenic Mekong Delta to My Tho and board a boat to an orchard garden. Take a horse-drawn cart to Quoi Son to visit a bee farm and float on a sampan through narrow, tree-lined canals. Continue to Tan Thach commune to visit a family-run enterprise making coconut candy. After lunch return to Ho Chi Minh City stopping en route at Chinatown, Binh Tay Market and Thien Hau Temple.
OVERNIGHT IN HO CHI MINH CITY. [Breakfast, Lunch]
Day 12: Ho Chi Minh City - Departure
The morning is free for shopping before transfer to Tan Son Nhat International Airport for departure.
